If you're a sports bettor and looking to improve your betting, listening to betting podcasts could be a game changer. There's so many great betting podcasts out there hosted by professional sports bettors or people that are really experienced in the industry. The podcast format allows people to have in-depth discussions about all sorts of topics around betting, so we thought we’d share our Top 5 Sports Betting Podcasts!
Before we get into our top five it's important to mention that generally, there are two different types of podcasts out there. There are betting previews where people give out tips for games on the weekend or maybe just an overall betting preview of an upcoming tournament. And secondly, there are podcasts that predominantly interview people, whether that be a professional sports bettor, bookmaker or anyone that's involved in the industry. For this article, we’re going to focus on the top 5 podcasts that are conducting interviews - in no particular order!
The Circles Off Podcast is hosted by professional sports bettors’ Rob Pizzola and Johnny from betstamp. One of our favourite things about this podcast is that they bring on guests from around the betting world who are really unique guests, and haven't been interviewed on other podcasts before. Being Pro Sports Bettors, Rob and Johnny are always asking the questions that everyone wants answered, as opposed to other podcasts where the host/s may not be as knowledgeable about betting. They’re also super consistent with their podcast, releasing at least one episode every week, whether that be guest interviews, answering viewer questions or general educational content.
The only negative you could say about this podcast would be if you are a beginner sports bettor or someone that's got very little knowledge of sports betting, there’s a chance you might get a little bit lost in some of their high-level discussions. But, once you educate yourself on sports betting just a little, you should find their conversations very interesting.
Our favourite episode of The Circles Off podcast was Episode 16, which was an interview with Professional Sports Bettor, Porter. What was interesting about Porter is he specialises in player props, which allowed for a great discussion around the pros and cons of player props versus some of the bigger markets in sports betting. We also enjoyed their episode with Professional Sports Bettor, Spanky, who has been interviewed by quite a few podcasts. This was one of the more interesting interviews he’s been a part of.
The second podcast on our list is the Smart Betting Club Podcast, hosted by the founder of Smart Betting Club, Pete Ling. The Smart Betting Club is a tipster verification website, so their podcast is centred around interviewing certain tipsters, delving into the ins and outs of their service, how they found an edge in betting and much more. This allows for some great conversations from a range of different tipsters in sports like Soccer, Horse Racing and Golf. You really get to understand how everyone has a different way of finding value in the market.
There is also a series on the podcast called Betting Clever, where they talk about more general topics in sports betting and compare their various tipster portfolios. Our favourite episodes were Episode 1 with Tom Brownlee and Episode 2 with Greg Gordon. Hearing some of the ways Tom utilises betting shops is really interesting, along with Greg’s approach to sports betting with his background in football scouting.
Next on the list is the Be Better Bettors podcast, which is hosted by the aforementioned, Spanky. On this podcast, Spanky interviews professional sports bettors and bookmakers, whilst also recording podcasts by himself, talking about certain topics in sports betting. Having been in the industry for 30-40 years, another great element to his podcast are all the great stories he shares and his ability to bring on guests who have been in the industry for a really long time and can share how it's evolved over time.
One of our favourite episodes of Be Better Bettors is when Spanky interviews Professional Sports Better, Fats. Fats shared some great stories of working with one of the biggest sports bettors ever, Billy Walters. The other podcast we highly recommend is his solo podcast where he talked about building relationships in the sports betting industry and how he's been able to foster partnerships with all sorts of people around the world.
Bet The Process is hosted by Pro Sports Bettor, Rufus Peabody, and former member of the MIT Blackjack Team, Jeff Ma. This podcast is quite similar to the Circles Off Podcast, as you've got two people who are really experienced in the sports betting industry interviewing betting experts and also having general discussions between themselves about current betting events.
This podcast has been running for nearly a decade, so there are a lot of episodes to catch up on! We recommend listening to their episode of Circles Off host, Rob Pizzola, where they talk about finding value, and how you can bet different sides of a golf match-up and there still be value on both players, depending on when you bet it. They also have a great interview with Professional Sports Bettor, Shane Sigsbee. Shane talked really openly about how he approaches sports betting and the ins and outs of his operation.
We couldn't leave ourselves off the list! The Trademate Sports Betting Podcast is an informative and engaging show that delves into various topics related to sports betting, value betting and betting strategies. Hosted by Pro Sports Bettor, Alex Vella, the podcast features discussions with betting experts, professional bettors and industry insiders. It's aimed at both beginner and seasoned bettors who are looking to improve their knowledge and make smarter betting decisions.
We have been lucky enough to have some amazing guests on the podcast over the years, including some big names such as Jonas Gjelstad, Anthony Kaminskas, Spanky, Rob Pizzola, Mark O’Haire, Harout Massoyan, Psychoff, Jared Tendler and many more!
